About the composer: Fred Rose
Knowles Fred Rose (1898–1954) was an American musician, songwriter, and music publishing executive who became an important figure in American popular and country music. Born in Evansville, Indiana, he began performing as a pianist and singer at a young age before moving to Chicago and working in vaudeville. He later established himself as a successful songwriter in New York's Tin Pan Alley. In 1942, Rose returned to Nashville and co-founded Acuff-Rose Music with Roy Acuff, one of the first major Nashville-based music publishing companies. He also served as Hank Williams' record producer and was one of the first inductees into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1961.
