NICA'STEMPO - Free Jazz Leadsheet

“Nica'sTempo” was composed by Horace Silver in 1957, again inspired by Pannonica de Koenigswarter. The piece exemplifies Silver's hard bop style, with intricate melodies over lively, syncopated rhythms.

The initial recording occurred with the Horace Silver Quintet in New York, featuring Silver on piano, Donald Byrd on trumpet, and Hank Mobley on tenor saxophone. The performance highlighted the composer's inventive phrasing and harmonic sophistication.

Later renditions by Clifford Brown, Art Blakey, and others have solidified its status in the jazz repertoire. Musically, it is structured around a 32-bar AABA form, offering musicians room for improvisation while maintaining a bright, energetic character.
