We always welcome opportunities to share our knowledge with other musicians interested in the style or audiences who wish to know more about music in general. Connecting to dancers and listeners gives meaning to our performances. The workshops can be tailored to your needs going from a short introduction of the history of jazz to a full course in jazz improvisation.

For musicians:

Over the years, we have had the pleasure and honor of teaching a great deal of other musicians, both one-to-one and in groups. Every member of the Jungle Jazz Band is a multiinstrumentalist, so we as a group are able to offer guidance and advice on virtually every instrument in the jazz sphere.

These classes often include:

  • Group classes focused on the rhythm section
  • Group classes focused on the horn section
  • Group improvisation
  • One-on-one classes for various instruments
  • Group classes focused on basic music harmonic theory
Laurent Humeau leading a jazz workshop, sharing New Orleans music techniques with musicians at The Jungle Jazz Band.
Carlos Santana conducting a workshop on jazz improvisation and rhythm, with The Jungle Jazz Band in Berlin.

For audiences and dancers:

We have played thousands of concerts for a wide variety of audiences. The connection between a band and the audience is crucial for the success of a performance.

These are some key topics we discuss with listeners and dancers:

  • The origin of this style
  • The function of the instruments within a band
  • The shape and form of music and how to count time
  • How to better understand genres and appreciate what you hear
