C'EST SI BON - Free Jazz Leadsheet
“c'est si bon,” also widely sung in English translation though originally a French song, was written in 1947 by Henri Betti (music) with lyrics by André Hornez. One of the earliest successful recordings was made in 1948 by the French singer Suzy Delair, which contributed to the tune’s rapid rise in popularity.
The song gained international attention in 1950 when Eartha Kitt recorded an English-language version with Henri René’s orchestra. Its lyrics express worldly charm and effortless romance, while its melody combines a relaxed swing with clear phrasing that lends itself naturally to both jazz settings and cabaret performance.
