FAREWELL BLUES - Free Jazz Leadsheet

"farewell blues" was composed by Paul Mares, Leon Roppolo, and Elmer Schoebel in 1922. It is a classic example of early New Orleans-style jazz with expressive melodies and blues-inflected phrasing.

The first recording was by the New Orleans Rhythm Kings in Chicago, featuring cornet, clarinet, and trombone leading the melodic interplay. Later interpretations by swing and Dixieland bands have maintained its prominence.

The piece uses a 12-bar blues framework with room for ensemble improvisation and expressive solo work.
